It was reported today in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan in summary of the work of the livestock industry in the first quarter of 2019. The event was chaired by Deputy Minister Nazip Hazipov. The meeting was also attended by consultants on animal husbandry, heads of breeding services of agricultural and food departments in municipal districts, specialists from the Main State Agricultural Management of Breeding Animal Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, heads and specialists of a number of agricultural organizations.

In his speech, Nazip Khazipov focused on the issues of milk and meat production. Milk production is a significant source of funds for agricultural producers and this issue is kept by the Ministry under the constant control.

Agricultural enterprises in January produced more than 317 thousand tons of milk (103% compared to last year) and 98.7 thousand tons of meat (this is 102% by 2018). Almetyevsk, Baltasinsky, Buinsky, Nizhnekamsky, Kukmorsky and Tukayevsky districts became the leaders in milk growth.

The number of cattle in the republic is more than 727.8 thousand heads, including cows -241.9 thousands and 446.6 thousand pigs. The appliance of calves amounted to more than 83.6 thousand heads. Mamadyshsky, Alkeyevsky, Baltasinsky, Buinsky, Alekseevsky, Kukmorsky and Chistopolsky districts became the leaders in increasing the livestock of cattle.

The Deputy Minister also drew attention to the need of the revival of the historic Tatar horse breed. For these purposes in the republic there are subsidies for their purchase and maintenance. The size of the subsidy provided is 60%, and for reimbursement of the costs associated with keeping the breeding stock - 20 thousand rubles per 1 Tatar horse. The grant is given annually while maintaining the breeding stock of Tatar horses. The condition for granting the subsidy is also the fact that recipients have breeding certificates or passports for each horse.
