25 March 2019, Monday

The 24 of March by the Training and Demonstration Center of the Institute of Mechanization and Technical Service FSBEI HE "KGAU" was held a competition-exhibition of products of grapes processing and other garden crops . The event was organized by the Kazan Loza Club and Kazan State Agrarian University.

The exhibition gathered more than 30 participants. They presented over 35 types of products of their own production: wines, juices, compotes, dried fruits, jams, pastila, pastries, etc. Also at the exhibition were presented seedlings of various grape varieties, covering materials, agricultural machinery and equipment for the production of alcohol-containing products.

Each visitor received a ticket at the entrance and, having tasted the presented products, could vote for the product he liked the most. The task of determining the best was not easy. Only wines were presented in more than 80 varieties, and still fruit and berry dishes, sweets and pastries.

“We regularly hold such exhibitions, this is a great opportunity to share experiences and discuss issues related to the cultivation of grapes and its processing,” said Alexander Zverev, the chairman of the Kazan Vine club. “Of course, we give lectures for winegrowers in the winter, but here you can see everything in practice.”

Alexander Zverev grows 100 different grape varieties on his 25 hectare site and is ready to share his experience with anyone. Many people come to visit for his advice, and some come in the fall to try grapes, and in spring to get the cuttings of their favorite variety. Alexander Zverev is glad to see everybody. In addition, being the chairman of the Kazan Loza club, together with the Kazan State Agrarian University, he leads the School of a beginner grower, which anyone can sign up for. Classes are held mainly in the winter, in order not to tear gardeners from the hassle on their sites. So residents of the republic, having received extensive knowledge in the winter, can put them into practice in the spring and try to grow their own grape harvest.
