Tatarstan gross grain yield made up 4.5 million tons

About 170,000 ha of fields with agricultural crops are left to be cleared in Tatarstan. It was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov at a session in the house of Government.

“Due to rains we were able to clear only about 110,000 ha of fields with agricultural crops and to mill 300,000 tons of grain within a week, which is less than we could do within 2 August days, when we able to harvest without losses owing to well-organized work”, - noted Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan. Every ton of grain is received with difficulty. However, we can note that almost 4.5 million tons of grain has already been milled at the average crop yield of 34.3 dt/ha, which by 7.3% more in comparison with the previous year level. “Now we should make every possible effort to finish harvesting successfully”, - emphasized the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

Sugar beetroot has a great crop yield. Only 15,000 ha of fields with sugar beetroot has been cleared by today, which is 21%. “548,000 tons have been harvested at the average crop yield of 364 dt/ha. It is by 50 dt/ha more compared with the previous year level. The yield will increase. All 3 Tatarstan sugar plants are already processing new sugar beetroot yield. 15,000 tons of the crop is being processed daily, since the beginning of harvesting 35,000 tons of sugar have been already produced”, - informed Marat Akhmetov.

At the same time the potato yield this year is less than it was expected. However, there will be no deficit, as the minister said. The average crop yield is 215 dt/ha, which is enough to meet the needs of Tatarstan people in full.

“We have a lot to do concerning winter soil preparation. Due to the fact that the harvesting campaign started later this year, winter soil preparation is going on not very fast. Only 33% of fields have been tilled as of today, which 650,000 ha out of 2 million ha”, - stated Minister of Agriculture and food of the Republic of Tatarstan. Some farm households do not use their potential in full, there is a lack of tractors in others. The program on purchasing of machinery was developed with the participation of Tatarstan budget. Contracts on purchasing of 130 units of machinery with the capacity of over 300 CV have been concluded, but by the present day only 50 tractors have been brought to the republic.

 This weekend traditional agricultural fairs started their work all over the republic. The main market sites were opened in Tatarstan large cities: Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Zelenodolsk – so, agricultural producers from 33 municipal districts bring their goods there. Agriculturalists and cattle breeders from 10 more districts organize weekly fairs in their towns.
